SCOTTSDALE, AZ – Come 2016, local cat lovers will have a brand new way to hang out with their favorite furry friends.

In an interview with AZ Big Media, local entrepreneur Melissa Pruitt explained her plans to open up Arizona’s first ever cat cafe, LaGattara.

She told AZ Big Media she plans to have 15 to 20 cats roaming the cafe, all of which will be available for adoption through local shelters she hopes to partner with.

LaGattara is already gaining traction in the community through outlets like Instagram and sharing photos of furry faces like the ones that will grace the cafe.

Pruitt informed AZ Big Media that she hopes to open shop in January 2016, though an exact location hasn’t been determined yet. However, she said the team is looking at locations near Old Town Scottsdale. She also said she would like to incorporate features and events that many other cat cafes around the world don’t have, including a wine bar and opportunities to enjoy paint nights and yoga classes with the cats.

Pruitt’s passion for the business comes from a lifelong love of rescuing and mothering hundreds of cats.

The opening date remains uncertain, but for now, you can follow LaGattara on Facebook and Twitter and keep an eye out for its upcoming website
